L. Myrick, was born August 12, 1926 and died December 25, 1927. Besides her parents, she is survived by one sister, Mildred Ellen. Her illness was of short duration, extending over a period of only a few days and almost before the bewildered parents realized her condition, she was gone. In a lovely white casket banked with beautiful flowers, our little Evelyn "slept the sleep that knows no waking," and as we looked upon her little face so sweet in death, we wondered, is it so strange after all that the angel, walking in the garden of life should choose for himself this lovely flower so fresh, with dewy fragrance, lest some harsh thing might mar its loveliness or stain its unsullied whiteness? Rev. J. M. Gibbs read the last sad rites and made some beautiful and comforting remarks. He was assisted by Rev. H. M. Green. Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery. As we turned our faces homeward, we breathed a prayer for the same loving Father who marks the sparrow's fall, might come very near to the young parents who made the supreme sacrifice so courageously, that He would bring them to realize that whom the Lord loveth, He chasteneth. Above the dark clouds of our sorrows, let us lift our eyes and with the trustful faith of Martha, look beyond those pearly gates, where surely there awaits us at Heaven's portals one loved and lost awhile.
