Mott, Former Winn Pastor, Dies Rev. Henry J. Mott, the first pastor of the Laurel Heights Baptist church, died in Tioga May 1. He was 72. Rev. Mott came to Laurel Heights in September, 1945 and served until January, 1952. The church was organized as a mission through the First Baptist Church of Winnfield. The late Judge Cas Moss and Rev. E. L. McGuffee were among its organizers. Rev. Mott had been a minister 32 years before his retirement in 1971. He was a native of Grant Parish. He was ordained in 1939 while attending Louisiana College. Rev. Mott preached at New Prospect Baptist Church in Grant Parish, Laurel Heights, Winnfield, Trinity, West Monroe, Cullen and Boyce Baptist Churches and was past moderator of both Winn and Webster Baptist Associations. Following his retirement, Rev. Mott was interim pastor at Trinity and Lee heights Baptist Churches. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Lou Ollie Mott of Tioga; one son, Rev. Waynon Mott of Alexandria; a daughter, Mrs. Elaine McKeithen of Dubach; two sisters, Mrs. D. W. Taylor and Mrs. Pearl Gentry of Tioga and six grandchildren. Funeral services were held in the Pineville chapel at 10 a.m. Friday. Burial was in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
