V. Matt Milam, Jr.

Funeral services for Virgil Matt Milam, Jr., will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in
First Baptist Church with Dr. Calvin Phelps officiating. Burial will be in
Garden of Memories under direction of Southern.

Milam, 69, of Winnfield was born March 3, 1922 and was the son of the late V.
Matt Milam, Sr., and Helen Thompson Milam.  Milam died at 11 a.m. Tuesday,
March 12, at his residence.

He was a veteran of World War II.  He was co-owner of W. M. Milam & Son Retail
and Wholesale business until 1978.  He also owned and operated Milam's Ben
Franklin Store and Milam's Furniture Store.  He was a member and deacon of
First Baptist Church.  He also served as chairman of the board of Winn State
Bank & Trust Company from 1964-1989.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Nell Milam of Winnfield; three sons, Michael
R. Milam of Kennett, Mo., Tommy A. Milam of Monroe, and V. Matt Milam III of
Winnfield; one sister, Helen Loyce Byrnes of Winnfield; and seven
grandchildren.

Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m.
Thursday in the funeral home.
