L. Mercer Here Wednesday Funeral services for Willard L. Mercer, 86, who passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. W. P. Burns, in Winnfield, Tuesday, October 25, 1960, after a long illness, were held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Hixson Brothers Chapel. Officiating was the Rev. Kenneth Wall, assisted by Rev. Willie Broadway. Burial was in the Guin Cemetery under direction of Hixson. Acting as pallbearers were Lee Jutzi, Arthur Burns, Jay Mercer, Clayton Holmes, Cecil Couch, and E. E. Prince. A native of Winn Parish, Mr. Mercer was born Jan. 25, 1874 near Tullos, and spent most of his lifetime in this community. He was a member of the Crossroads Baptist Church and a retired farmer. He was the father of ten children, seven of whom survive. They are three daughters, Mrs. Burns, Mrs. J. O. Lincecum, Dodson, Mrs. Dan Wilson, Tullos; four sons, Earlie and Silas of Tullos, Luther of Bastrop, and Hildra of Pioneer; two brothers, W. S. and A. K. of Winnsboro; 20 grandchildren 28 great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
