The Southern Sentinel (Winnfield, LA), Friday, August 23, 1907
Died at his home in Atlanta, La., Aug. 14th, 1907, Dr. C. A. Neal, age 52 years 
and 16 days. He was born in Winn parish July 29th, 1854, and lived in Winn 
parish all of his life. He was married to Miss Mattie Watson of Claiborne parish 
in 1873. 

He leaves a devoted wife and six children — four girls and two boys — a mother, 
three brothers, and two sisters and a host of other relatives to mourn his 
death. But we know our loss is his gain.

He has been afflicted for a long time, and for the past five years has been a 
constant sufferer, but praise the Lord, the battle is fought and the victory is 
won. We cannot meet him any more in this life, but praise God, we can meet him 
in heaven. How precious is the death of the saint in the sight of the Lord! Oh! 
how sweet are the promises of our Savior. When we have to stand and see our 
loved ones depart this life and to know there is a place of rest for the 
children of God, and if we live Godly we can meet beyond the grave, where 
parting will be no more. 

Grieve not, loved ones, as those that have no hope, but live to meet him in 
heaven, where there will be no more sad goodbys; where the suffering cease from 
anguish, and the weary are at rest, sweet rest.
