Neal Held Monday P. M. Citizens of Wheeling Community Succumbs Sunday Funeral services for Grady L. Neal, who died at his home at Wheeling early Sunday morning, were held Monday afternoon at three o'clock at Mt. Zion Church and interment was made in the church cemetery. Rev. J. M. Jones, pastor of the Mt. Zion Methodist Church, assisted by the Rev. Mrs. Felix Wardlow of Montgomery, conducted the funeral, which was under the direction of Winnfield Funeral Home, local funeral directors. The deceased was born near Winnfield October 9, 1897 and is the son of John H. Neal and the late Mrs. John H. Neal. He was engaged in farming and was one of the leaders in his community both in civic and religious circles. At the time of his death he was employed by the state conservation department. He was a member of the Methodist Church and the Montgomery Masonic Lodge, F. & A. M. Surviving him are his wife, who was Miss Vestal Neal, one son, Oliver, age 9; and one daughter, Martha Leah, age 4; father, John H. Neal; four sisters, Mrs. Ena McNaughton, Harmon; Mrs. Frank Shaw and Mrs. Blanche McGinty, Winnfield; Mrs. Wiley Gunn, Montgomery; six brothers, Felix Neal, Matt Neal, and J. T. Neal, Montgomery; Heard Neal, Lefores, Texas; Edmond Neal, Dubach; Oswald Neal, Olla; two step brothers, Quincy Neal, Perryville, and Elisha Neal, Montgomery. Pallbearers were S. E. Jenkins, Earl Hughes, Earl Johnson, Hershel Hughes, Sam Fowler, Clifford Fowler. Honorary pallbearers were his nephews, Irvin Neal, Gilbert Neal, Harry Neal, Frank Shaw, Jr., Loyd McNaughton, and Merle Gunn.
