All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: November 4, 1937 Winn Parish Enterprise John Harrison Neal Is Buried At Wheeling Well Known Farmer of Winn Parish Dies At The Age of 78 John Harrison Neal, age 78, died at his home in the Wheeling Community Thursday, 1:53 p.m., 1937, following an illness of long duration. Mr. Neal was born within sight of the home he died in and lived his entire life and reared a large family in the same community. Funeral services were conducted Friday afternoon at 3:30 at the Mt. Zion Church of which the deceased was a member. Interment was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery. The Rev. Crawford, Methodist minister of Shreveport, was in charge of the service and was assisted by the Rev. Jones, pastor of the Mt. Zion Church. In the year 1881 Mr. Neal was married to Martha Ella Cook to which union were born eleven children, all of whom survive him except one son, Grady L. Neal, who preceded him in death a year ago. Following his first wife's death, Mr. Neal was later married to Mrs. Julia Neal Watson in 1923, who survives him. The sons and daughters are Mrs. Ena McNaughton of Harmon; Felix Neal, Matt Neal, J. T. Neal, and Mrs. J. W. Gunn of Montgomery; Mrs. Frank Shaw and Mrs. Blanche McGinty of Winnfield; Ed Neal of Ruston; Heard Neal of Lefors, Texas; and Oswald Neal of Olla. Thirty two grandchildren and two great grandchildren also survive.
