All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: January 23, 1936 Winn Parish Enterprise Negro Youth Killed Thursday Afternoon Jumped From Wagon Into Path of Car Driven By Traveling Salesman Judge Wade Neal, 12 year old negro youth, was almost instantly killed Thursday afternoon shortly after 1:30 when he jumped from a wagon on the Dodson- Winnfield highway into the path of a large brown sedan, driven by Leroy Lieber of 508 South Franklin, Chicago, Ill., a traveling salesman for the Form Fit Corset Company of Chicago. Traveling with Mr. Lieber was his wife. The unfortunate boy was the son of Lee Neal, who lives on the J. M. Hyde place. Another negro was driving the wagon and told the boy not to jump. The oncoming car was traveling too fast to stop according to the driver of the wagon, and struck the youth on the leg throwing him to the pavement where he struck his head. He lived about ten minutes after the accident and died at a local clinic where he was brought by the Liebers. Witnesses to the accident stated that it was unavoidable.
