Husband Of Former Local Girl Succumbs

Dave Nelson, 66, of Jena, died November 28, 1969, at the Baptist Hospital in
Alexandria after a long illness.  He was the husband of the former Miss Joy
Calhoun, who was reared in Winnfield.

Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. Monday in Jena with the Rev. G. R.
Nolan officiating.  Burial was in the Mars Hill Cemetery, Winn Parish.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Joy Nelson of Jena; one son, James D. Nelson
of Jackson, Mich.; two daughters, Mrs. Joy Ann Gibson of Lafayette and Mrs.
Lindy Hopkins of Patterson; one brother, Jens Nelson of Alexandria; one
sister, Mrs. Lena Monk of Houston, Tex.; and eight grandchildren.

Attending the last rites from Winnfield was Miss Myrtle Calhoun, sister in law
of the deceased.
