Services for Sidney Simpson Nelson, 86, of Winnfield, were held at 9 a.m.
Tuesday in the chapel of Southern Funeral Home with the Rev. Keith Hill
officiating.

Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery in Ruston.

Mr. Nelson died Sunday, August 9, 1981 in the local hospital after a long
illness.

He was a member of the Methodist Church, a member of the Masonic Lodge, and
a 1914 graduate of Louisiana Tech University.

Survivors include his wife, Jennie Nelson of Winnfield; a son, Thomas Nelson
of Pacific Palisades, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Ida Lou Holmes of Washington,
D.C., and Mrs. Byrd Emerson of Winnfield; and two grandchildren.
