Brother of Local Residents Dies In Bernice

Jack Newman, 72, retired driller, died at his home in Bernice, La., October
31, 1976, after a long illness.  He was a native of Coushatta, and was the
brother of Ira Newman of Joyce, Mrs. Myrtle Taylor of Winnfield, Mrs. Susie
Mae Ray of Columbia, Mrs. Cecil Valentine of Hemphill, Texas, and Mrs. Hazel
Hawkins of Jacksonville, Fla.

Mr. Newman is also survived by hiw wife, Mrs. Azilee Newman of Bernice.

Last rites were conducted Monday at 3 p.m. in the Shiloh Baptist Church with
burial in the church cemetery.
