Newsom The many friends of Mrs. A. H. Newsom (nee Ada Machen) will be grieved to learn of her untimely death which occurred at her home in Arcadia at 4:15 o'clock last Friday morning after a few days illness from pneumonia. Mrs. Newsom was the daughter of the late Judge M. F. Machen and spent most of her life here in Winnfield. She was twice married. First to Mr. Oliver Wallace, of Winnfield, and second to Mr. A. H. Newsom of Hickory Valley, one child being born to each union. Her surviving relatives are a daughter, Miss Louise Wallace of Crossett, Ark., her husband, Mr. A. H. Newsom of Arcadia, a son, Hugh Newsom of Arcadia, her mother, Mrs. Anna Machen, and sister, Mrs. Wesley Crumps of Crossett, Ark. Mrs. Roy Newsom and Mrs. J. H. Hart of Monroe and Delhi, and three brothers, Mr. Frank Machen of Shreveport, Mr. Henry Machen of Houston, Texas, and Mrs. Tom Machen of El Dorado, Ark. Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church in Arcadia and accompanied by her family and a number of sorrowing friends from Arcadia and Homer, her body was laid to rest in the Cemetery at Ruston at 5 p.m. last Sunday. Those attending the funeral from Winnfield were: Mesdames C. M. Swanson, E. J. Byrnes, P. C. Mosley, Miss Anna Belle Swanson, Mr. Edward Byrnes, Mrs. John Mosley, Mr. John T. Mosley, Miss Nettie Bernstein, and Mrs. E. E. Kidd. To the bereaved ones we extend our deepest sympathy.
