E. J. Newton, Sr., Dies Monday In Arkansas

E. Joseph Newton, Sr., 97, a former resident of Winnfield, die at his home in
Harrison, Arkansas, April 22, 1974.  He and his family had lived in Winnfield
during the 1920s.  He was born Nov. 28, 1876 in Calhoun, Arkansas.

Prior to his retirement he was an inspector for Arkansas Power & Light Company
at which time he resided in Pine Bluff, Ark.

Funeral services were held at Antioch Church near Magnolia, Arkansas, April
24, with burial in the church cemetery.

Surviving are three sons, Burnice and E. J. Newton, Jr., both of Harrison,
Ark., and Grady Newton of Pine Bluff.  He also leaves three grandsons, one
granddaughter, six great granddaughters, eight great grandsons, and one great,
great grandson.
