Night At Home Of Son In Monroe Mrs. Sam Newsom, Sr., aged 76, died Tuesday night at the residence of her son in Monroe, after an illness of several weeks. Funeral services were conducted Thursday morning at 11 o'clock at the Sikes Baptist Church by the pastor, Rev. L. D. Emmons, assisted by ? L. Hastings, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Monroe. Mrs. Newsom was a lifelong member of the Baptist Church and was a faithful and consecrated Christian, loved and admired by all who knew her. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. H. V. Mayes, and six sons, D. T., W. W., C. M., Hugh, Roy, and Sam Newsom, and one sister, Mrs. Cleo Wade of Jena. She also leaves a number of nieces and nephews, well known in this city and parish to whom and also members of the immediate family, Winnfield friends and acquaintances extend sympathy in their sorrow.
