R. Norgress (Ruby Wasson), 64, native of Gansville community, and long-time resident of Winnfield, died March 5 in a hospital in Thibodeaux, La., after a lengthy illness. A retired school teacher, Mrs. Norgress had taught in Lafourche Parish for 35 years. She was a devout member of the Thibodeaux Episcopal Church and served as organist of the church for many years. Active in Delta Kappa Gamma sorority, she also participated in various other clubs and civic projects. Mrs. Norgress was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Mae) McBride Wasson, prominent pioneer residents of Winn Parish. She is survived by her husband of Thibodeaux; one daughter, Mrs. Pat Griffin of Houston, Texas; one granddaughter; five sisters, Mrs. Warren Curry, Winnfield; Mrs. Ida Finlay, and Mrs. Kate Meadow, Olla; Mrs. Avis Norris, Bossier City; Mrs. Laura Henderson, Lompoc, Calif.; five brothers, Clayton Wasson, Shreveport; Mack Wasson, Columbia, S. C., Herbert Wasson, Little Rock; Shelton Wasson, New Orleans. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon in Thibodeaux.
