Norman Perry A. Norman, 79, of Dallas, Texas, born in Plain Dealing, Louisiana, who grew up in Winnfield, Louisiana, died Tuesday, December 11, 1979 in Dallas where funeral services were held at 12:30 p.m. Friday, December 14, 1979 in Restland Wildwood Chapel with Reverend Robert I. Bush and Reverend Felix B. Kindel, Munger Place United Methodist Church, officiating. Norman attended Louisiana College as a member of the Students Training Corps during World War I and was a graduate of Washington and Lee University Law School in Lexington, Virginia. He started his Western Union career as a Morse operator prior to entering law school and continued as an employee of the company on a part-time basis while pursuing his law studies . He was a former member of the Louisiana Bar and practiced law in the state briefly before joining Western Union's Division Headquarters Organization in Dallas in 1928. He held various supervisory positions in Western Union, and for eighteen years prior to his retirement, he directed the operation of the company's leased communications systems in eight southwestern states. He was a former member of the Armed Forces Communications Association, a Master Mason, and a member of the Munger Place United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Long Norman; a son, Perry Allen Norman, Jr., of Newark, Delaware; two grandsons, David and Scott; and a sister, Mrs. Alliene Hoffman of Winnfield, La. Mrs. Alliene Hoffman, Mrs. Agnes Trahan, and G. P. Long of Winnfield attended the last rites in Dallas.
