Norred, 39, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Norred of north of Dodson, were conducted Sunday afternoon, July 12, at 3 o'clock at the Pumpkin Center Church of God by Rev. Harvey B. Hysell of the Winnfield Methodist Church, assisted by A. W. Townsend, pastor of the Hodge Methodist Church, with Edmonds Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Interment was in Antioch Cemetery. The 23rd Psalm was delivered in the sign language especially for the widow, Mrs. Archie M. Norred, who is deaf, by H. M. Jones. Mrs. L. O. May sang, "Onward, Christian Soldiers" in the same manner at the grave. Mr. Norred, who was a native of Jackson Parish, received his education at the Louisiana State School for the Deaf at Baton Rouge, graduating with the class of 1923. He was for many years an employee of the Ford Motor Company. On May 4 he submitted to a major operation at the Ford hospital in Detroit, but medical science failed to save him; thus death came to this good man on Thursday night, July 9, 1942. In addition to his parents, Mr. Norred is survived by his widow; seven brothers and sisters, C. Paul, Detroit; Clayton J., Dodson; L. Newton, Alexandria; Davis W., of the U. S. Army, stationed at Tampa, Fla.; Cedric A., Houston, Texas; Earl and Robert A., Shreveport. All of Mr. Norred's brothers except Paul, who was detained in Detroit, acted as pallbearers.
