The Family. Obituary: Sister Bessie B. Norsworthy was born February 13, 1900, to the union of the late Vince and Sarah Brown in Simsboro, Louisiana. She united with New Zion Missionary Baptist Church at an early age. She was a strong and courageous member, having served as Deaconess, Usher, Sunday School and Bible School teacher, Mission Society member, Choir member, and wherever else she saw a need. She departed this life Wednesday, April 27, 1988, at 10:15 a.m., in the home of her daughter and son-in-law in Grambling, Louisiana. She is survived by: two daughters, Ercell Newby of Los Angeles, California; and Mrs. Helen Gaulden of Grambling, Louisiana. One sister, Ms. Ester Brown, of Winnfield, Louisiana. Three grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
