Oglesby, Past City Judge, Dies Sunday Jack Emerson Oglesby, 62, Winnfield civic leader and retired lawyer, died at midnight Sunday, January 2, 1967 in a Winnfield hospital after a long illness. He had practiced law in Winnfield for 30 years, being associated with his father in the firm of Oglesby & Oglesby. Mr. Oglesby was a member of the First Methodist Church, chairman of the Winnfield Democratic Executive Committee, a member of the Eighth District Bar Association and the Louisiana State Bar Association, a former Winnfield city judge, a past commander of Payne-Johnson VFW Post No. 3800, and a past president of the Winnfield Rotary Club. He was the son of the late Judge and Mrs. Robert W. Oglesby and was a graduate of Winnfield High School, LSU, and Cumberland University of Tennessee. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Southern Funeral Home chapel by Rev. Richard Walton. Burial was in the Winnfield Cemetery. Survivors include three sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth O. Long of Winnfield, Mrs. Harry Gist and Mrs. John Cahill, both of Covington, two nieces, three nephews, and one great niece. Pallbearers were Layton Long, Harry G. Gist, jr., Maurice King, John Devereaux, Myron Fleming, and Thomas W. Leigh. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Eighth District Bar Association and members of Payne-Johnson VFW Post.
