Mrs. M. O'Neal, 94, Succumbs; Burial Feb. 29

Mrs. Martha O'Neal, affectionately called Aunt Coot, of Verda, passed away at
6:00 a.m. Friday, Feb. 28, in a Pineville nursing home following a lengthy
illness.

She was born in Winn Parish near Winnfield on June 28, 1869 and moved to Grant
Parish as a young girl, living in Montgomery, Hargis, and Verda communities
until recently when her health failed.  She was 94 years of age at the time of
her death.

She was married to Walter S. O'Neal, who preceded her in death on Feb. 7,
1905.  Mrs. O'Neal was a member of the Hargis Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 29, at Mars Hill
Baptist Church with the Rev. Don Shehorn, Hargis pastor, officiating.  Burial
was in the Mars Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Johnny Jackson, Wilmer Fletcher, Barry Russell, Aubrey
Russell, Ebben Hale, Jr., and Malcolm Moody.

Mrs. O'Neal is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Ray (Ruth) Reynolds of Verda; a
son, Samuel C. O'Neal of Waco, Texas; two granddaughters and two great
grandsons.
