Otho Long Succumbs To Heart Attack William Otho Long, 62, owner of the Huey P. Long Motor Hotel, died in a Winnfield hospital at 11:55 p.m. October 2, 1962 following a heart attack. He had been in ill health for some time. Last rites were conducted at the Southern Funeral Home at 10 a.m. Thursday, October 4, with the Rev. Robert Gate and the Rev. R. H. Staples officiating. Burial was in the Winnfield Cemetery. Acting as pallbearers were Lloyd Trawick, Lehman Sullivan, C. R. Long, Dr. Marshall Heflin, Tracy Harrell, and J. L. Waters. Mr. Long was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Albert J. Long, Sr., and was a cousin of Julius Long of Shreveport, and the late U. S. Senator Huey P. Long, Governor Earl K. Long, and U. S. Representative George Shannon Long. He was born and reared in Winnfield and was a graduate of Winnfield High School. For 20 years he was engaged in the automobile business in Winnfield before establishing the motor hotel here five years ago. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Maudie Fowler Long, Winnfield; one sister, Mrs. Edith Ann Long and one nephew, Albert J. Long III, both of Winnfield.
