Funeral services were held Saturday, September 3, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield with the Reverend Calvin Phelps officiating. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Linda McKinney of Alexandria, La., and Mrs. Sarah Rose of Franklin, La.; six grandchildren, Harold, Jr., James Richard, and Christy McKinney; David, Jr., Beth, and Kyle Rose; one sister, Miss Ether Sowers of Winnfield; two brothers, W. L. "Buck" Sowers of Winnfield and John C. Sowers of Port St. Joe, Florida. Pallbearers were Richard Overbey, Clark Overbey, Ray Walker, Dick DeBusk, Tommy Straughan, and Eugene Edmonds. Mrs. Overbey was preceded in death by her husband, A. K. Overbey, who died June 27, 1973; sons, A. K. Overbey, Jr., Feb. 12, 1940, and Billy Overbey, June 16, 1954. She was the daughter of the late William Monroe Sowers and Ellen James Sowers. Mrs. Overby held a degree in Elementary Education from Northwestern State College and taught for 38 years in the Winn Parish school system, the last years being in Westside at Winnfield where she taught fourth grade. She held membership in the First Baptist Church of Winnfield, Delta Kappa Gamma Honorary Teachers Society, Louisiana Retired Teachers Association, and American Association of Retired Persons. Out of town relatives and friends attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Richard Overbey, Alexandria, Clark Overbey, Mrs. Inez Oveberbey, Bunkie, Mr. and Mrs. S. Kelley, Sulphur, Miss Ona Mae Sowers, Monroe, Mrs. Otis Sowers, Miss Lucille Dyess, Miss Myrtle Dickerson, Tioga, Lamar Buffington, Monroe, Mrs. Alynne Rogers, West Monroe. Rev.
