Funeral services were held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Laurel Heights Baptist Church in Winnfield, with Rev. H. J. Mott, former pastor, and Rev. R. D. Sjolander, pastor, of South Winnfield Baptist Church, officiating. Burial was in Pine Ridge Cemetery in Ward 10 under direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Owens, two sons, Alton, of Shreveport, and Bobby, with the Air Force in Germany, one daughter, Miss Mary Owens, of Shreveport; four brothers, Calvin of Shreveport, John of Winnfield, Jeff and Clarence of Jena; two sisters, Mrs. Walter Stone of Jena, and Mrs. Paul Phillips of Bryceland; his father, W. A. Owens of Jena, and three grandchildren. Pallbearers were Ed Pooole, Herman Gorham, Walter Goins, Paul Goins, Dennis Curry, and Charley Ray. Mr. Owens, a retired mechanic, had lived at 262 W. 74th Street in Shreveport for the past two and one half years.
