Owen, 67, Retired Barber, Dies Suddenly John S. Owen, 67, of 301 Park Street, Winnfield, died suddenly at 10:30 Tuesday, January 9 1962, in a local doctor's office where he had gone for medical aid. He had owned and operated a barber shop on Court Street, Winnfield, for many years before retiring about two years ago. In his younger days he had been a barber at Atlanta when that community flourished as a lumber center with a population of over 1500. Funeral services were held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Southern Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. W. L. Holcomb officiating. Burial was in the Winnfield Cemetery. Acting as pallbearers were Lloyd Trawick, C. E. Sherwood, Fletcher Melton, Don Dunklebarger, I. G. Richmond, Marlin Connor, and Clifford Melton. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. John S. Owen, Winnfield; two brothers, Calvin Owen of Taylor, La., Clarence Owen, Jena; two sisters, Mrs. Walter Stone, Jena and Mrs. Paul Phillips, Bryceland, La.
