E. Palmer Held at Atlanta Victim of Storm That Hit Area Wednesday, January 4 Funeral services for James Edward Palmer, age 24, who was killed by a bolt of lightning at the rock quarry five miles west of here on Wednesday, January 4, were held from the Atlanta Methodist Church Thursday afternoon, January 5, at 3 p.m. o'clock, with the Rev. Alwin Stokes of the First Presbyterian Church here and Rev. W. D. Sherwood of Sardis, officiating. Interment was in the Atlanta Cemetery. Mr. Palmer was born January 23, 1914 at Faulk, Ark., the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Palmer, who now reside at Vivian, La. At the time of his death he was operating a truck for the Solvay Process Company and had gone to the quarry to begin work when he was struck by lightning during a thunder storm and downpour of rain. He is survived by his widow, formerly Rolene Bell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Asa Bell of Atlanta, and a 3 year old son; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Palmer of Vivian; one brother, Arthur Palmer of Vivian; and four sisters, Mrs. C. R. Nichols of Myra, Mrs. Harp Kendrick, Mrs. Otto Adcock, and Miss Opal Palmer of Vivian. By special request, the church choir sang at the funeral services, "God Be With You Till We Meet Again", and the Avant brothers played and sang "Farther Along", followed by "In The Garden" by Ebben Vaughn, John Barton, and Christine Longino. The pallbearers were Clarence Price, Gordon Dickerson, Jim Carter, Hardy Gill, Horace Chandler, and S. J. Lolan, Jr.
