Parker Of Sikes Dies Of Heart Attack Forty years of practice as country doctor at Sikes, La., were ended Thursday, July 18, when Dr. J. B. Parker, 70 years and 8 months of age, was stricken with a heart attack and died at his office. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Homer Coleman and W. S. Emmons at the Sikes Baptist Church at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon. Arrangements were under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home of Jonesboro. Pallbearers were his nephews, Ted Melton, Travis Parker, Darrow Parker, Lawrence Parker, R. J. Parker, and Hyman Beavers. Dr. Parker was born November 1, 1875, at Sikes, and he has been the only practicing physician there for many years. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Nancy Erskins Parker of Sikes; one son, Allen B. Parker, of Sikes; six daughters, Mrs. Lena Emmons of Sikes, Misses Geneva, Rose, and Nell Parker, all of Shreveport, Mrs. Irma McGlocklin of Dallas, Texas, and Mrs. Everette Moore of Denver, Colorado; five brothers, George, M. B., Horace, Jessie, and Ross Parker, all of Sikes; four sisters, Mrs. Mary Thompson, Mrs. Nancy Crain, Mrs. Roy Beavers, and Mrs. Eugene Smith, all of Sikes; five grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
