T. Parker, Killed In Longview, Are Held While four fellow workmen looked on powerless to aid, L. T. Parker, 27 years old, of Sikes, fell to his death 52 feet from the side of an oil derrick in Longview, Texas, last Monday afternoon, October 19. He suffered injuries that proved fatal three hours later. As his body hurtled downward he made three vain attempts to grasp rungs of the derrick ladder to break his fall. The remains were conveyed to Sikes Wednesday from Beaumont, Texas, and interred in the Hebron Cemetery. Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. George Adams. The last rites were attended by many friends from Texas, Winnfield, and Sikes. The deceased is survived by his widow, Mrs. Pearl Wade Parker and two children; and one sister, Mrs. E. E. Crain of Sikes.
