M. J. Parker of Sikes is Buried at Friendship

Funeral services for Maurice James Parker, 53, of Sikes, were held at 3 p.m.
Wednesday, April 12, 1967, in the Friendship Baptist Church near Sikes with
the Rev. Arlie Bratton officiating.

Burial was in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers were Doug Parker, Marvin Parker, Jerry Erskins, Bob Erskins,
Sherman Pennington, and Bobby Clyde Brinson.

Mr. Parker died at about noon Tuesday in a Monroe hospital after a short
illness.  He was a Sikes merchant.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Rowena Parker, Sikes; two sons, James Parker
and Raymond Parker, both of Sikes; one brother, Alvis Parker of Sikes; one
sister, Mrs. Lee Bell Erskins, Sikes, and three grandchildren.
