Parker, Sr., Former Winn Resident, Dies Funeral services for Samuel Walker Parker, Sr., 69, of Shreveport, were held Friday at 1 p.m. at Osborn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Johnny Hollingsworth of Greenwood United Methodist Church and the Rev. Edgar C. Dufrense, retired Methodist minister, officiating. Burial was in Forest Park West. Mr. Parker died early Thursday, December 7, 1972 at Willis Knighton Hospital after a long illness. A native of Arkansas, Mr. Parker had resided in Winnfield for approximately 30 years before moving to Shreveport. He was a member of the Methodist Church and was retired as an engineer from the L & A Railroad. Survivors include his wife, the former Blondell Dickerson, Winn native; two sons, Samuel W. Parker, Jr. of Shreveport and John B. Parker of Alexandria; three daughters, Mrs. Mary Lynn Hancock of Laurel, Miss., Mrs. Sue McGowan and Mrs. Betty Hartman of Shreveport; one brother, Dr. Ben Parker of Louisville, Kentucky; two sisters, Mrs. Helen Williams of Celeste, Texas, Mrs. C. D. Bates of Winnfield, several nieces and nephews, one of whom is Rev. Danny Blake of Arkadelphia, Ark.
