All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: March 19, 1936 Winn Parish Enterprise Nephew of Winn People Succumbs at Arkansas University Albert Burkett Patten, Jr., of Hope, Ark., formerly of Alexandria, La., aged 20 years, 7 months, and 23 days, died in the infirmary at the University of Arkansas, Thursday, March 12, 1936. The deceased was a native of Alexandria and was a son of Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Patten. His father was for a number of years agent of the Louisiana and Arkansas Railroad Company and is now connected with the same company in Hope, Ark. Deceased was a student at the University of Arkansas. His death resulted from pneumonia and complications. He was a young man of unusual character and greatly loved by all with whom he came in contact. He is survived by his father, mother, and one brother, Freddy Patten; his maternal grandmother, Mrs. J. F. Shaw of Alexanaria; maternal aunts and uncles, Mrs. O. G. Wilson of Alexandria, Mrs. R. C. Westbrook of Abeline, Texas, J. M. Shaw of Baton Rouge, Mrs. R. H. Oliphant of Corpus Christi, Texas. He also leaves his paternal grandfather, John Patten, of Atlanta, La., and the following paternal aunts and uncles: Mrs. P. L. Orendoff, Hoffman, Okla.; Mrs. Gus Ferguson and Mrs. Mack Shy, Atlanta, La.; Mrs. J. L. Ferguson, Winnfield, La.; C. D. Patten, Alexandria, La. The body arrived in Alexandria Friday night at midnight and was conveyed to the home of his aunt, Mrs. O. G. Wilson, 1921 Polk St. Funeral services were held at the house at 10 a.m. Saturday, conducted by the Rev. Mr. Harrison, pastor of the First Methodist Church, of Alexandria after which interment was made in Greenwood Memorial Park.
