Patten, Well Known Here, Dies in Shreveport Charles Dewitt Patten, aged 29 years, traveling traffic representative of the Louisiana and Arkansas Railway and well known in this parish, died early Wednesday morning in a Shreveport hospital. Mr. Patten formerly lived in Alexandria but about two years ago he made his headquarters in Shreveport. His widow is employed in Alexandria as cashier in the Rock Island office. Mr. Patten was well known, having served at one time as commander of the George M. Simmons, Jr. Post No 3, Alexandria, American Legion. He is survived by his widow and one son, C. D., Jr., of Alexandria; his father, J. C. Patten of Atlanta, La.; one brother, A. B. Patten of Hope, Ark.; four sisters, Mrs. J. L. Ferguson of Winnfield, Mrs. P. L. Orendoff, Hoffman, Oklahoma, Mrs. Gus Ferguson and Mrs. Mac Shy, Atlanta, La. Funeral arrangements had not been completed but tentative plans called for a military funeral in Alexandria.
