Father of Mrs. J. I. Waller Dies In Alexandria

George A. Patterson, Sr., age 82 years, of Alexandria, died Friday, December
15, 1944, at the Baptist Hospital after a short illness.  Mr. Patterson is
survived by his wife, Mrs. Minnie D. Paterson; one son, L. D. Patterson, U. S.
Army; one daughter, Mrs. J. I. Waller; one granddaughter, Mrs. Betty Waller
Thompson, Winnfield; and one brother, Boyd Patterson, Shreveport.

Mr. Patterson, a native of Alabama, had been a resident of Alexandria for the
past forty five years, having engaged in the drug business for a long time
until he retired a few years ago.  His son, George A. Patterson, Jr., who
was in the navy in the present conflict, was killed in action about two years
ago.  Mr. Patterson was for many years a member of the city council and was a
devout member of the Emanuel Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon with interment in Greenwood
Memorial Park.
