Patten Dies Suddenly At His Home In Atlanta Funeral Services Were Held Sunday At Atlanta Cemetery John C. Patten, 84 years of age, died suddenly at his home in Atlanta last Saturday, December 19th. Mr. Patten was a grand old man, quiet, unassuming and a lovable character. He spent his entire life doing good and making others happy. Mr. Patten was an active member of the Methodist church, having joined when a small boy. He was prominent in the community in which he lived and will be greatly missed. His wife preceded him to the grave twenty-one years ago and a son, C. D. Patten, died only a month ago. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. E. G. Ferguson, Atlanta, Mrs. J. L. Ferguson, Winnfield, Mrs. O. L. Orendoff of Hoffman, Okla., and Mrs. M. C. Shy of Edna, Kansas, and one son, A. B. Patten, Hope, Ark. Fourteen grandchildren and a host of other relatives also survive. Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at the Atlanta church with the Rev. Baggatte, pastor, officiating. Interment was in the Atlanta Cemetery under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.
