I. A. Patton, Sr., Dies; Buried In Jonesboro Mon. The Rev. Issac Aaron Patton, Sr., 82, a retired Methodist minister, died early Sunday at his home in West Monroe. Ordained in the Methodist ministry in 1901, the Rev. Patton was pastor of churches at Dodson, New Hope, Couley, Winnfield, Jonesboro, Chatham, Pollock, Clay, Ansley, and many others. He retired in 1942. Born in Grant Parish April 5, 1878, the Rev. Patton began studying for the ministry in 1897 and after his retirement remained active, preaching whenever called upon. His first wife, the former Birdie Calk, whom he married in 1902, preceded him in death in 1933. He is survived by his second wife, Mrs. Maggie Brown Patton, whom he married in 1945. He is also survived by nine of the ten children of his first marriage, including seven daughters, Mrs. H. C. Earle of Winnfield, Mrs. John H. Gannaway of Norfolk, Va., Mrs. Robert J. Miller of New Orleans, Mrs. Johnnie Foust of Baton Rouge, Mrs. O. W. Boyd, Jr., of Dallas, Texas, Mrs. Perry Kent of Liddieville, and Mrs. H. M. Rachow of West Monroe; two sons, J. R. Patton, Sr. of Greenville, Miss., and the Rev. Issac A. Patton, Jr. of Monroe. Other survivors include a sister, Miss Emma Patton; a brother, James W. Patton; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Gladys Brown Corn, all of West Monroe; 26 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday at 2 p.m. in the First Methodist Church of West Monroe, with the Rev. E. B. Emmerich, the Rev. Ira L. Yeager, the Rev. George Harbuck, the Rev. Tilman Brown, and the Rev. J. T. Garrett officiating. Burial was in Jonesboro Cemetery. Pallbearers were Walter Corn, Jackie Miller, Perry Kent, O. W. Boyd, Jr., the Rev. R. J. Miller, and H. M. Rachow.
