Payne, Alex. Doctor Prominent Alexandria Doctor Expires After Illness Of Short Duration Alexandria, October 9. David I Payne, 51 years old, prominent Alexandria physician, died at his residence on the Holloway Prairie Road, near Pineville, Thursday morning after an illness of short duration. Payne had practiced medicine in Alexandria for seven years, having come here from Verda, Grant Parish. He was graduated from a Memphis medical college after having studied at Mt. Lebanon, near Gibsland, La. He was a deacon in the Pineville Baptist Church and was active in the affairs of the church. He also was active in Masonic circles, having been a past master of Solomon Lodge No. 221, Pineville. He is survived by the widow and the following children: Charles J. Payne, Miriam J., Mary Helen and Ruth Carey Payne. He also leaves five brothers and five sisters. They are: J. J. Payne, Albequerque, N. M., J. L. Payne, Urania; J. R. Payne, Montgomery, La.; C. W. Payne, LeCompte; Mrs. J. T. Durham, Selma; Mrs. G. W. Durham, Winnsboro; Mrs. Emily Bagwell, DeRidder; Mrs. J. E. Wallace, Verda; Mrs. H. E. Richardson, Shreveport. Interment was made in Greenwood Memorial Park.
