Payne, were held at 10 a.m. Friday, November 23, 1956, at the New Hope Church, with the Rev. Virgil Taylor, pastor of the Winnfield Nazarene Church officiating. He was assisted by Rev. Ray Boyd of Hudson and Rev. Thompson of Jonesboro. Burial was in the New Hope Cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral Home. Acting as pallbearers were Cortez Snow, Lewis Snow, Straus Kelly, Billy W. Kelly, Henry Gorham, Sr., and Phillip Leach. Born near Sikes, Mrs. Payne was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John H. Snow, pioneer residents of Winn. She spent most of her life in the Hudson Community, and was a member of the Hudson Nazarene Church. She succumbed in a Pineville hospital after an illness of several years. She was a resident of Crawford Street, Winnfield. Surviving Mrs. Payne is one brother, J. U. Snow, Quitman, Ark.; one sister, Mrs. C. A. Rentz, Rt. 1, Dodson; four nephews, four great nephews, and two great nieces.
