Former Resident Of Winn Dies In DeQueen, Ark.

Carroll T. Payne, 67, a former resident of Winnfield, died at 12:30 p.m.
Sunday, March 14, in DeQueen, Ark., where he was visiting relatives.  He was
enroute, with Mrs. Payne, to visit an aunt, Mrs. O. U. Payne, Sr., of
Pineville, and other relatives in Louisiana when he was stricken with a fatal
heart attack.

Payne was a retired investment broker of Albuquerque, N. M.  He was the son of
the late Jackson J. Payne, longtime Winn Parish Sheriff, and Martha McIlwain
Payne.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Jo Ann Payne
Schmidt of Albuquerque, N. M., and a son, Jimbob Payne of the U. S. Marines,
Jacksonville, Fla.
