Last Rites For Clem W. Payne At Union Hill Sept. 3

Masonic rites were conducted Sunday, September 3, for Clem W. Payne, of
Alexandria, in the Union Hill Baptist Church, Winn Parish.  Rev. Hebert,
pastor of the Baptist Temple Church in Alexandria, and Rev. Jerry Green,
pastor of Union Hill, of Shreveport, conducted the services.  Interment was in
Union Hill Cemetery under direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home.

Mr. Payne was ordained as deacon in the Union Hill Church 43 years ago at
which time his father was pastor of that church.  He was a charter member of
the Baptist Temple Church at Alexandria.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Carrie Shumate Payne; three sons, Wilbur of
New Orleans, Tom Harris of Baton Rouge, and Otis of LeCompte; two daughters,
Mrs. David Smith and Mrs. Marie Ziobrowski of Alexandria; three brothers, O.
V. of Pineville, Joe of Pollock, and Jessie of Urania; four sisters, Mrs.
Mamie Richardson, Shreveport, Mrs. Rhodia Wallace, Verda, Mrs. Addie Durham,
Jonesville, Mrs. Emily Bagwell, DeRidder; 12 grandchildren and one great
grandchild.

Active pallbearers were J. N. Carter, L. J. Harrison, J. H. Megison, E. W.
McGinty, E. B. Maseburg, S. J. McLamore, and T. W. Fowler.
