L. Payne of Ruston Monday Funeral services for Mrs. J. L. Payne, who died in a Ruston hospital early Sunday morning following a heart attack, were held Monday morning at 10 a.m. with the Rev. A. H. Johnson officiating. Burial followed in the Greenwood Cemetery in Pineville. Mrs. Payne, the former Miss Lula Bell and sister of Mrs. G. A. Payne, local resident, is well known in Winnfield,having frequently visited her over a period of years. She with her husband, Jessie L. Payne, resided in Urania for many years until Mr. Payne retired more than 12 years ago. Since Mr. Payne's retirement they have resided in Ruston. Survivors are her husband, two daughters, Mrs. C. P. Pate of Cotton Valley, and Mrs. J. C. Duke of Goodpine; a brother, Dr. J. E. Bell of Houston; a sister, Mrs. G. A. Payne of Winnfield; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
