Peavy to Be Held Tomorrow Body to Arrive from El Paso Where He was Claimed By Death Funeral services for J. L. Peavy, who died in El Paso, Texas, Monday night, will be held here tomorrow morning following the arrival of the body Friday afternoon. The remains will be conveyed to the First Methodist Church from where the services will be continued by the Rev. Ellis Smith, pastor. Mr. Peavy for the past twenty-five years has been an engineer on the Rock Island lines and has made his home in Winnfield and El Dorado, Ark. He was born in Houston, Texas, fifty eight years ago and came to this section when a young man. In 1908 he married Miss Eula Perkins, daughter of Mrs. H. J. Perkins, and sister to Mrs. W. W. Allen and Mrs. W. O. Averett of Winnfield, and Mrs. J. P. Durham of Shreveport. He is survived by his wife and one son, Henry Peavy. For the past year Mr. Peavy has been in El Paso, Texas, for his health which was failing several months before going there. Funeral Services for J. L. Peavy Held Saturday Morning Funeral services were held Saturday morning at ten o'clock at the First Methodist Church for J. L. Peavy, veteran railroad engineer, who died on February 5 in El Paso, Texas, with the Rev. Ellis Smith in charge. Mr. Peavy was born 58 years ago in Louisville, Ky., where he spent his early years. He later went to Denver, Colo., to work with the Denver and Rio Grand railroad as an engineer, and where he remained for eight years. Because of his work he was widely known in railroad circles and came to Louisiana in 1908 and after serving as engineer on the Rock Island for twenty-six years, retired about a year ago and went to El Paso, Texas. In 1908 he was married to Miss Eula Perkins, who with one son, Henry J. Peavy, survive him; also two brothers, G. A. Peavy of Houston, Texas, Orin Peavy of Owensboro, Ky.; four sisters, Mrs. Irene Nichols of Cuero, Texas, Mrs. Joe Lokey, Fort Worth, Texas, Mrs. Fred Newman, Houston, Texas, and Mrs. Bless Kableman of New York. Mr. Peavy for the past twenty years has held membership at the First Methodist Church of El Dorado, Ark. He was an honorary member of the B. of L. E. Out of town relatives and friends attending the funeral included Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Peavy, Mrs. Fred Newman, Houston, Texas, Mrs. Irene Nichols, Cuero, Texas, Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Durham and family, Shreveport, Mrs. B. J. Beach and Mrs. John O'Laughlin, Mr. Blodget and John M. Webb, El Dorado, Ark.
