All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: May 3, 1951 Winn Parish Enterprise Herman Pelz, 77, Native of Germany Died Here Apr. 26 Herman Pelz, 77, head machinist for the Tremont and Gulf Railway Machine Shops for 30 years, died at a local hospital at 1:45 p.m. Thursday, April 26, after a long illness. Funeral services were conducted at the Southern Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Alwin Stokes, assisted by Rev. P. M. Caraway, officiated. Burial was in Boggachitto, Miss., Friday afternoon. Employees of the Tremont and Gulf Railway acted as pallbearers. Born in Kingdom County, Saxton Markneuiken, Germany, June 3, 1874, Mr. Pelz came to the United States at the age of 13 with his family. He lived and worked in the north and later settled in Mississippi where he married. He had been a resident of Winnfield for about 34 years. His wife preceded him in death four years ago. For the past two years or more he had made his home with the R. L. Kraft family, Route 2, Winnfield. He is survived by a brother in Wisconsin and a sister in Chicago.
