Mr. Pendarvis who resided in Ward two had attended a dance at the home of his brother, Troy Pendarvis, and was one of the last to leave. As he started out at a rear door he accidentally kicked a single barrel 12 gauge shotgun which was loaded with squirrel shot. The gun fell down the steps, the hammer striking a solid part of the steps, causing the gun to be discharged, the full load entering Pendarvis' thigh. He died from loss of blood within fifteen minutes. Coroner Fittz visited the scene of the accident and found that the shooting was accidental. The victim of the tragedy is survived by a wife and five children.
