J. Peppers Bolt Hits Power Line While Lineman Working On Pole Is Belief H. J. Peppers, an employee of Phoenix Utility Company, was killed instantly last Friday evening about 4 o'clock from a bolt of lightening received while working on a pole at the sub-station at Standard, La. His body was immediately carried to his room at Juanita Hotel, Olla, La., and undertakers summoned from Monroe. The body was embalmed and carried to Monroe for funeral arrangements. It is understood that the body will be shipped to his home in Oklahoma for burial. The death of Peppers, 25, lineman on the new high power electric line of the Louisiana Power and Light Company from Sterlington to Winnfield, was ascribed as due to an electric bolt that struck the line as he was working on the pole. The current had never been turned on, as the line is still incomplete. As the lineman fell back after a sudden thunder bolt occurred, fellow employees quickly brought the body to the ground and worked over it for several hours in fruitless efforts at resuscitation. (The headline on this article gives the name of R. J. Peppers. The text states H. J. Peppers).
