W. Perdue Dies Saturday a.m. of Heart Attack Mrs. J. W. Perdue, a resident of Winnfield for more than fifty years, died suddenly of a heart attack last Saturday morning in a local hospital. Apparently in good health, Mrs. Perdue had done her housework Friday, after which she complained of chest pains. However, the pains soon passed and she resumed her usual activities, enjoyed a night's rest, but soon after arising Saturday morning she suffered an attack, from which she was unable to rally. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at three o'clock at the First Baptist Church conducted by the pastor, Dr. W. L. Holcomb, assisted by the Rev. Alwin Stokes, pastor of First Presbyterian Church. Interment was in the Winnfield Cemetery. She is survived by her husband, J. W. Perdue, two daughters, Miss Jessie Clyde Perdue and Mrs. A. T. Drewett, Jr. of Winnfield; one son, Bruce Smith Perdue and a granddaughter, Clarisse Ann Perdue, of Kenner; one sister, Mrs. C. D. Towery, Crockett, Texas; three brothers, Gill Smith and Charlie L. Smith of Winnfield, and Bruce Smith of Greensboro. Pallbearers were W. D. Walker, R. D. Bevill, J. W. Wroten, Harper Terrill, Don Walsh of Winnfield, Richard Walsh, Sellinger Walsh of Urania, and Joe Walsh of Bastrop.
