Perkins Dies Following Heart Attack On Monday Funeral Services Held Wednesday; Interment In Local Cemetery Mrs. Josephine Perkins, age 77, widow of the late Henry J. Perkins, died at her home here Monday morning at 11:00 o'clock following a sudden heart attack. Funeral services were held from the First Baptist Church, of which she was a member, Wednesday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock conducted by the Rev. H. H. McBride, pastor, assisted by the Rev. H. B. Hysell, pastor of the First Methodist Church and the Rev. Alwin Stokes, pastor of the First Methodist Church. Interment was in the local cemetery beside her husband, who preceded her in death on February 6, 1928. Mrs. Perkins was born in Winn Parish October 28, 1865, the youngest of a family of ten children. Her parents were Wm. A. and Charity Ann Erskine of Hickory Valley Community. Her father died when she was only a month old. She was married to Henry Perkins on February 16, 1879 and to them were born six children, four of whom survive. The oldest daughter, Martha Ann Nevada, died in 1903 and the only son, William Jackson Perkins, died in 1929. The surviving children are Mrs. W. W. Allen, Mrs. Eula Peavy, and Mrs. W. O. Averett of Winnfield, and Mrs. J. P. Durham of Houma. There are twelve grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren, and two brothers, George Erskine and Willis Erskine of Sikes, who survive her. Her grandsons, Rev. W. M. Averett, W. J. Perkins, J. W. Allen, Warren Allen, E. H. Peavy, and Wayne Durham served as pallbearers. She was an aunt of Congressman A. Leonard Allen and of the late Governor O. K. Allen.
