Perkins Dies Suddenly Henry Jackson Perkins, age 69 years, 10 months, and 27 days died suddenly at his home late Monday afternoon. Mr. Perkins was a lifelong resident of Winn Parish and has taken a prominent part in the social, religious, business and political affairs of the parish since young manhood. At the time of his death he was a member of the parish board of equalization. Mr. Perkins for many years was one of the leading farmers and merchants of this section and for many years was a member of the parish school board. He assisted in establishing the first town government in Winnfield and was a member of the first town council. Mr. Perkins is survived by his widow, one sister, Mrs. Asa Allen, Shreveport, two half-brothers, D. F. Kirkling (Kirkland?), Sikes, La.; and Charles Kirkling (Kirkland?), Oak Grove, La.; one son, W. J. Perkins, Shreveport, and four daughters, Mrs. W. O. Averett and Mrs. W. W. Allen, Winnfield; Mrs. J. L. Peavy, El Dorado, Ark.; and Mrs. J. P. Durham, Shreveport. Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church of which he was a member of the Board of Deacons, Wednesday morning 10 o'clock. Rev. L. D. Posey of Itta Bena, Miss., former pastor of Winnfield Baptist Church had charge of the services, being assisted by Rev. A. H. Cullen, present pastor. Interment was in the Winnfield Cemetery, a large concourse of relatives and friends attending.
