Perkins, Jr., Killed In Action In South Pacific Mrs. W. W. Allen, Mrs. W. O. Averett, and Mrs. J. L. Peavy, of Winnfield, were notified Wednesday afternoon that their nephew, William Henry Perkins, Jr., 32, Seaman 1-C in the U. S. Navy, was killed in action in the South Pacific. He was the only son of Mrs. Lena Daniels Perkins and the late W. H. Perkins, Sr. of Shreveport. Mr. Perkins, who was given special training in the care of blood plasma after he enlisted in the Navy in September, was serving with a non-combat unit. His mother received a letter from him Wednesday morning, the same day the War Department notified her of his death, which stated that he was getting along fine. Besides his aunts in Winnfield, and his mother, he is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mable Smith Perkins; one son, Billy Perkins; another aunt, Mrs. J. P. Durham, all of Shreveport, and a number of other relatives in Winn Parish.
