S. Navy, who was killed in the Pacific Theater during World War II, arrived in San Francisco, Calif., last Sunday, and will be sent to Ft. Worth, from which depot they will be forwarded to Winnfield for reburial in the Winnfield Cemetery. The son of the late W. J. Perkins and Mrs. Lena Daniel Perkins, Bill Perkins spent most of his life in Shreveport. He was 38 years of age. He is survived by his mother who is in a critical condition in the Tri-State Hospital, Shreveport; one son, Billie, Jr., 16, a student at Missouri Military College; three aunts in Winnfield, Mrs. W. W. Allen, Mrs. W. O. Averett, and Mrs. Eula Peavy; and one aunt, Mrs. J. P. Durham, of Shreveport. Funeral arrangements will be announced later. No. 2 Military Rites Are Conducted For W. H. Perkins, 33 Military funeral services for William Henry Perkins, 33, Shipfitter first class, U. S. Naval Reserve, were held at the Winnfield Cemetery Monday afternoon, July 12, with the Rev. Fred Flurry, Rev. H. H. McBride of Winnfield and Rev. W. O. Lynch of Shreveport, officiating. Burial was in the Winnfield Cemetery under direction of Hixson Funeral Home. Members of the Winn Parish V. F. W. Post and the local National Guard unit conducted military rites. Shipfitter first class Perkins, who lost his life in action on Rendova Island of the Solomons group in the South Pacific on July 1, 1943, was the son of the late W. J. Perkins and Mrs. Lena Daniels Perkins and was the nephew of Mrs. W. W. Allen, Mrs. Eula Peavy, and Mrs. W. O. Averett of Winnfield, and Mrs. J. P. Durham of Shreveport. A young son, Billy Perkins, of Shreveport, also survives him. Pallbearers were J. W. Allen, Warren Allen, Johnny Brister of Winnfield, and Henry Peavy, Wayne Durham, and Harris Durham, of Shreveport. Attending the last rites from Shreveport were Rev. and Mrs. W. O. Lynch, Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Nelson, Mr. and Mrs. P. W. Smith and daughter, Marjorie, Mrs. A. B. Walker, Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Lott, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Davison, Mr. and Mrs. S. F. Brunson, Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Hill and son, Larry, Mrs. Alice Davidson, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Craig. The military escort was Chief Petty Officer O. K. McNally of Ft. Worth, Texas.
