Peterson, Long Time Merchant, Buried In Texas A. Peterson, 72, merchant of Winnfield for 32 years, died at his home here Tuesday at 10:30 p.m. after a long illness. He had been in failing health for the past seven years and for almost two years had been a bed patient after falling and breaking his hip. Funeral services were conducted at the Southern Funeral Home at 11 a.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. L. L. Booth and Dr. W. L. Holcomb officiating. Burial followed in the New Salem, Texas, cemetery. Acting as pallbearers were John Bell, Tommy Harrell, Ebb Machen, Frank Shaw, John Wroten, and Richard Heard. A native of Texas, Mr. Peterson moved to Winnfield many years ago with his family and engaged in the mercantile business. He and his family have been associated in the civic and religious activities of the community since they chose the town as their residence. Mr. Peterson was a member of the First Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife and one son, Kelly Peterson, both of Winnfield. He also leaves three grandchildren.
