Funeral Services For Mrs. Mattie Philen April 19

Funeral services for Mrs. Mattie Philen, of near Atlanta, who died in a
Winnfield hospital, April 18, were held at the Atlanta Baptist Church at 3
p.m. April 19, 1952.  The Rev. Ernest Walker and Rev. H. J. Mott officiated. 
Burial was in Sardis Cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral Home.

Acting as pallbearers were W. L. Irvin, Reece Ray, Walter Irvin, Deville
Collins, Hezzie Irvin, James Morell Irvin, all nephews of the deceased.

Born in Winn Parish October 17, 1895, Mrs. Philen had spent her entire life in
the Atlanta community.  She was a member of the Atlanta Baptist Church.

Surviving are one son, Cecil Philen of Atlanta; three daughters, Madeline
Philen of Atlanta, Mrs. H. T. Burford, Jr., Gloster, La., and Mrs. J. C. Key,
Sulphur, La.; and three grandchildren.
